I absolutely love this place! Great beer selection first of all but secondly the food is effing delicious! Everything I've eve had has been great. The steak bites? Killer. The Cajun chicken bow tie pasta? Awesome. Never disappointed and its in the heart of downtown Milford which is in a revitalization period where places are coming back and it's a great little area. Situated where the old Irish public house used to be, Palate offers an awesome menu and drink list, live music, a great staff, and an awesomely comfortable ad cozy setting. The owner Joe is cool as hell too. You can find him strolling through his place talking to patrons and friends, making recommendations. Dude has his site on lock. Every time I'm in the area that's where I start my night!

The restaurant has a nice feel. The inside was very loud, so we sat on the patio. The patio was very nice. We had a good waitress. The wrong food was brought out to us, but the restaurant took care of the problem quickly. The food was mediocre and the proportions were small. I'm sure I'll be back here, hopefully it's better next time.

I'd heard really good things about this place because it's my friend's favorite, and I wasn't disappointed. The ambiance is nice and I loved the little touches. We sat outside on the balcony, and it was a perfect night to enjoy the night air. We both got a beer and split the steak tip crostini. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked. The sauce was creamy without being overpowering, and everything went together really well. I also had a bowl of the french onion soup, and while I found it too be tasty in theory I couldn't get past how salty it was. Soup saltiness aside I really enjoyed this place and would come back.

Downtown Milford is really quaint & Palate is the perfect restaurant for such a location. With foods served from their rooftop garden and local vendors/butchers, their dishes are crafted intentionally with time & precision. Their bacon wrapped dates are delicious and the atmosphere is electric!

All the food was very dry. The perch still had the skin on it and was super dry, halibut and salmon were rock hard. The French fries were soggy and tasted like they had been sitting out for hours. Pretty much all the food tasted like it was cooked in the morning and heated in the microwave. Service was bad.

Yeah! They got the message! The fries are cut thicker! Hallelujah! I can actually enjoy them! Thanks for listening, Palate owners.

So disappointed. I had the eggplant parmesean. It was $15 and three little slices of eggplant. I had to go get dinner after I left. My husband had a salad...it was just ok. There are too many other good restaurants in Milford.

I'll keep my review short since what I'm about to say has been said by nearly every other reviewer: -Nice selection of brews. Something for every beer drinker. They will give you 1oz samples to find just the right selection for you. -Mediocre food. I had the steak burger. It was lacking in the taste department and the cheese came out sitting on top of the meat like it was out of a package. Could at least melt that rascal a bit I would think. Honestly, and this is almost blasphemy, I think the Red Dog has a better burger. -I shouldn't have to hear bands play that loud at the end of the bar area....let alone on a Tuesday night. I was literally yelling at my friend sitting right next to me at the bar as I could not hear him nor could he hear me. That's it! Good brews, mediocre food and extremely loud music.

I am not a big salad eater. I know I should eat more, but I hate iceberg lettuce, and that is what you get at many places. Not Palate. Their mixed green salads are the freshest I've seen. I had their roasted beet and goat cheese salad. My former college roommate had the watermelon salad. It is not that often that I eat my entire salad, but I devoured this one. It was delicious! And if you are thinking, "I hate beets," you probably haven't had them roasted. Their salads are $9.00, but totally worth it. The outdoor seating in back is nice; it's dark inside, and has more of a bar vibe. We were here for brunch, and the omelets that other diners near us had smelled great, and were huge. The only thing lacking was the slow and inattentive service. We had an eight year old with us, and she didn't offer us a "Big Kids Menu". I just happen to see it as we were being led out to the patio. It's cute how they give kids a palate-shaped chalkboard to draw on while waited for the meal to arrive. This is a great addition to Main Street. I hope it is still here for my next visit to Milford.

I was hesitant to try this place due to some negative comments from another person, but it looked and smelled inviting when I walked by, so we,my daughter and I, went for lunch. It was wonderful! We sat out on the second-floor patio, with plant trellis'with foods they harvest for their menu and granite tables with large market umbrellas.. as a chef myself, that sets the stage for good eating. We ordered some of the small plates, and they were not only perfectly cooked and had depth of flavor, but the presentation was superb. We are very impressed!

Today is the fourth weekend in a row that we've visited the Palate. I understand that a previous reviewer provided somewhat negative commentary regarding the menu, and I'd like to set the record straight. The Palate is a rarity among non-chain restaurants: fresh mostly local food, very well prepared, reasonably priced and an enormous selection of craft beer. They have a nice patio out back and plenty of seating inside. Wait staff is friendly and efficient (thanks Ryan and Kate). On today's visit, there was some disappointment that the corned-beef hash was not on the brunch menu, but the other selections were more than acceptable. I would not hesitate to recommend Palate to any foodie looking for locally-sourced menu items that are prepared to-order. The french onion soup is the best I've tasted *anywhere*.

I came here strictly because I saw Chicken & Waffles on the menu. I'm leaving extremely happy because of them. One of the top 10 foods I've ever had.

We love this place! We go to Palate often, this is usually our casual choice in town when we have friends or family we want to take out in Milford. My 8 year old loves to go here for the buttered noodles and chalk boards :) Love the beer selection and the fun drinks. The staff is always friendly and it's so cozy, warm and inviting, feels like our home away from our home dining room. We mostly get the apps/small plates, so many are so good... cajun mac, steak bites, my fav are the bacon wrapped dates! I gave it 4 stars and not 5 as it'd be nice to see more entree options, maybe some specials or changing items so we don't have to get the same small plates for dinner all the time.

The menu has significantly changed to more of a casual dining fare with a bit of style. I had the Mediterranean pizza, I was expecting more classic Mediterranean flavor out of it but it was lacking. I ended up asking for a side of Greek dressing to dip it in to get that tanginess I was expecting. The rest of our group ordered sandwiches like a burger, chicken wrap, and Detroit rueben which they were OK with. The portion side of chips were pretty skimpy but they seemed to enjoy them. We each had alcoholic drinks ranging from beer to a Moscow mule, all good. It's almost less expensive to drink here since pop and tea are bottled.

Fantastic service and unique and tasty menu options. Drinks are creative and stand up to any drink town. I would highly recommend Palate

Great beer n wine list. Bacon n goat cheese wrapped dates are a great starter. Roasted beet salad with chicken was a generous n flavorful portion. Manager Matt was on very aware of serving sequence as dinner ticket ran long and he quickly fixed. Definitely place to see in Milford.

I love this place. I became a foody in Charleston, South Carolina, and this is one of the few places in the area that I can look forward to every single time. Everything on the menu is done very well. I just enjoyed a plate of chicken and waffles for $8 on Friday. Several weeks ago I had filet and scallops for more than 3x that price, and it was exactly the same value. Spend a little or spend a lot. Either way you'll have great food. The steak burger is the first thing I tried here and it was great. The meat is from the village butcher down the road and you can tell. The pizza is even great here. And the pulled pork sliders feature better pork than the barbecue place across the street (much, much better). I've always had good service but, sure, I have had some mistakes made. I've had my medium rare burger come out beyond well. I sent it back and about the best burger I've ever had found it's way to the table after that. Mistakes happen. The staff at Palate has always made things right for me so I have no real complaints. The only real complaint I have is the menu. I like that they attempt simplicity by using one sheet. But, it's impossible for a newcomer to find what they really want. I think it took me 6 visits to realize they offered sliders. They're in fine print at the top left corner of the place-mat sized menu. The beer selection is top notch also. It's the only place I've ever had Stone RuinTen on draught. Come here... often. You'll be glad every time.

We were disappointed. This was our first visit to Palate. We made reservations earlier in the week for Valentine's at 7pm. We got a call back on Valentine's explaining because of the holiday, there would be an exit time as well at 9pm. I thought this was fine but we should have been told this at the time we made our reservation not the day of our reservation. As it turned out, the temps were frigid here in Michigan and the restaurant wasn't crowded. When we arrived we were promptly seated. I liked the casual tavern-like atmosphere but with the promise of great food! Our server arrived promptly to take drink orders and give us the special limited Valentine's menus. We were told right away that they ran out of the second or third entree on the special menu which was Delmonico steak. Keep in mind, it was only 7pm! Was it a ploy to draw people in or poor planning? We started with appetizers of crab cakes. The crab cakes were delicious! They had a tropical salsa on top that was great. Oddly the tops were nicely browned, the bottoms were very soggy because the crabs were swimming in an ocean of clear liquid on both ours and the other couple's plates. It was difficult to determine whether this was intentional or not. Perhaps the idea of the juice was to keep the crab cake from drying out. Personally, I didn't care for it. Next came the huge glitch of the night. We waited and waited for our salads. Finally the salad AND the entrees arrived at the same time! The waitress was not paying attention, and evidently neither was the expediter nor the TWO servers who brought the entrees and salads to the table simultaneously. When I am paying an ala carte price of $28 for the entree, I want that entree to come out freshly made at the precise time, not with my $8 salad. (And obviously I don't want to sit there waiting and waiting for that $8 salad.). We asked that the entrees be returned to the kitchen, and I expected them to be remade. The salads were the best part of the meal. My husband had the poached pear and I had the beet salad. I loved the crispness, the tart and sweet, and the unusual combinations. They were very yummy. When we were done with the salads, our entrees arrived. Unfortunately they were the same entrees we had been served 15 (or more) minutes earlier. How do I know? The sauce on the shrimp creole pasta had congealed on top kind of like when glue starts to dry and it was cool in some spots. The sauce on my husband's short ribs was similar. The couple we were with had salmon. It looked dry. The shrimp were nice size, but the creole was nothing special for $18. The short ribs for $28 were very tender but whoever trimmed the meat nicked the bone because my husband kept pulling shards of bone splinters from his mouth. Would I return? For $100, no drinks, probably not.

The decor and feel inside is great, I love the style. Our server, wish I remembered her name, was better than great. She knew her stuff. The hubby and I started with escargot and bacon wrapped scallops, Both cooked perfectly. It was my first time having escargot! The French onion soup is some of the best I've ever had! For dinner, he had a steak, Delmonico maybe? And I had steak with scallops, everything was cooked to the perfect temp, but the steaks were under seasoned, and therefore some what bland. For dessert, you have to have the creme brûlée, and apparently the cheese cake is their chefs specialty dessert. Hubby got a mint Oreo cheesecake. Overall, we had a great evening, and will definitely be back!

My husband and I and a group of our friends ate at Palate and loved it! The perch was delicious and the appetizers were not your standard apps. The liver and goat cheese wrapped in bacon was out of this world and so were the breadsticks and cheese. The grilled Brussel sprouts were the best I have ever tasted. We at on the patio, which was very large with ample shade. The atmosphere inside was very nice as well. Service was very good as well. We will definitely be back!

I have to say that I was very disappointed when I dined with my husband and another couple at Palate. The restaurant was beautiful but the food was far from stellar. Unfortunately it is a small town restaurant trying to be like the big city and falling far short. The food itself was actually deceptive. The other couple ordered Caprese Salad but what they received was a bowl of arugula with some tomatoes cut on top, they sent it back. My husband ordered beef stroganoff mac and cheese as an appetizer and what he received was a bowl of pasta. In no way did it resemble mac and cheese. The actually food itself was very hit and miss. While my husband enjoyed the flavor of his dish, my French Onion Soup was watery, didn't have a nice melt on the cheese, etc. Also one of the desserts we ordered had quite a bad flavor to it and we didn't finish eating it. Again we had high hopes based on the reviews and were very disappointed. Restaurants shouldn't try to be cool by "fancying" up what could be a great menu if done correctly. Just be cool by preparing great food and providing excellent service.

This place has gone down hill. The food used to be the main attraction. Now the food is just plain average. It seems alcohol is the main attraction now and food is secondary. I will be taking some time off from the Palate.

We came here to eat on a Tuesday night, just thinking that we should try some places out around Milford. Palate is nicely decorated, their beer list is impressive. I have to say the ambiance here is good even though it can get a little bit loud. staff here is also nice and my waitress has been very helpful. I wish I can give a 3.5 but there no such option so give here a 3 star. I'm not saying the food is bad, it's just as a loyal yelp fan I have to say that what we ordered here is below a 4 star yelp standard. We had yellow perch and pizza. The fish is a little bit too dry. The pizza is loaded with lots of good stuff but it has a really really ordinary dough, I almost felt like I can make the same thing out of my own oven. I would say the dough kind of ruined the pizza. Over all it's not a bad experience, I just wish their chef can be a little bit more creative.

We've been to Palate twice, the first time for lunch and the second for dinner. Both were good experiences. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive on both occasions. On the first trip, I had a pulled pork sandwich which was very good, but on our second visit I had the Parmesan Encrusted Lake Michigan Whitefish with sauteed spinach and whipped sweet potatoes. I have to say, that was one of the best meals I've ever had. I've had similar fish dishes at many places, but this one was out of this world. My husband had the Grecian burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend Palate, if you want delicious, properly-prepared food in a pleasant atmosphere.

I've eaten at Palate about 5 times now, and have had good experiences each time. They have a very diverse menu featuring a lot of locally sourced food (including some grown right on the roof!). They offer small plates, fish, sandwiches, steaks, etc. The restaurant is clean, quite large, though narrow making large groups a bit of a challenge. They have a beautiful elevated desk outside with about 10 tables. It fills up quick during the summer, but if you can get a seat it is a great view. Service is pretty good, but slow at times. Overall I really enjoy Palate, another great restaurant in downtown Milford!

Went there on Friday for lunch with a large group (14 of us split into two tables). I really enjoyed the Veggie burger with mushrooms. They gave us wine bottles filled with water so we were able to refill our glasses at our own convenience, which I like (as long as there are enough bottles-which there were). They served ketchup and mayo in small personal cups, which is nice from a hygiene perspective, however it was slightly annoying as there was not enough ketchup for me in a single cup and the server did not come around often enough (given that we had enough water) for me to ask for another. One of my friends ordered a side of bacon with his meal, but this took a long time to come after the rest of the food was served (He did say that he liked it though).

This is a great place to have a beer or wine with friends but the selection of entree's is very disappointing. I enjoy the atmosphere and the employee's are friendly. The town is family oriented and the shop's are very unique and slow paced but that's a nice change of pace from the city's hustle we are used to. Good deals are easy to find at these homely shop's.

We went here on the Sunday the Lions played the Jets while the Tigers clinched the Central Division. However, it was not crowded. There were a couple of idiot loud guys sitting at the bar who laughed like jackals, but that's not Palate's fault. What is their fault, we ordered food to eat at the bar and had to wait an hour. An hour. This is after we went bike riding around Kensington so I was starving. I got the greek salad with chicken and it was pretty good. Husband got the turkey burger and sweet potato fries, but they brought the wrong fries so they put in another order and brought about 15 minutes later. The food was great, the craft beer was pretty good. Just not happy about how long the food took. There was no reason for it. Luckily we had the games to watch, but... I was hungry and crabby. The bar staff is pretty friendly. We ordered the Somoa cheese cake after... if you like cheesecake, I highly recommend it. This place is pretty hard to get in to on a Friday and Saturday night. There is a great deck out back for when the weather is warm. It's a little difficult to watch the TV's whille sitting at the bar, unless you sit at the left end by the big TV. Otherwise, you are looking to your left and right, and behind you. A bit odd. I've said this in other reviews, bars who have TVs straight ahead get my business. Throw some good food in there, even better.

Love the bar area, the room with the fire place, and they have a decent patio. Huge beer selection, but I don't like any of them, so i know I can't drink beer when I'm there, except an occasional brown. I despise ipa's or any skunk flavor for that matter. It is a bit on the pricey side, most of the food I've tried though is okay, wish they would change the menu up once in a while. I do love the turkey and pulled pork sliders. They have an excellent filet and scallops, and the fish is always good. I don't care for their salads.

It was not the greatest first impression for me. I did show up with a date around the same time of the Milford Memories festival, wick would explain the busy service but our server made a couple mistakes. Our server forgot about the drink we ordered. We have him our drink order after we ordered our food. He didn't bring it to us until we werefinished reading and blamed the bartender. Once we got our drink, it didn't taste that great. The fish and chips I had tasted great but I only got one piece of fish, a cup of fries, and a half cup of coleslaw for $15. I was disappointed with the amount I got. I would hope that my next visit, if they're is one, makes up for my first....

As promised, I gave them a second shot. This time, for "brunch". Well... that's what they call it, anyway. If eggs-and-meat breakfast, create-your-own breakfast sandwich, a burger, and pizza is a balanced brunch menu to you. I opted for the burger, which was hyped as being brisket-based and from the Village Butcher. Hey, I love the Village Butcher. In fact, it's the only place I buy meat from. But farm-to-table from the Village Butcher? Someone had better tell the American Legion down the street to jack up the prices on burger night, 'cause theirs must be fancy-pants, too. The burger itself was passable, I guess. Had I been anywhere else, I would have asked for ketchup or A1, because it was flavorless. The cheddar-garlic bun it was on was pretty decent, though. I'm guessing it's from Great Harvest. The accompanying sweet potato fries were uninspired, at best. They tasted like they had been frozen, and given a dash of rough-ground sea salt to look artisanal. Whatever. My wife opted for the BYO sandwich with chorizo. Frankly, that chorizo tasted like Bob Evans sausage put in too much Lowry's Taco Mix. Don't get me started on "Hey, guy from Milford, what the heck do you know about chorizo anyway?" Trust me on this one. Perhaps the two bright spots were my daughter's raspberry pancakes, from the kid's menu, and when they offered her some ice cream after a fall. I appreciated that -- but not as much as she did. So, all-in with no alcohol or soft drinks ran $40 (inclusive of a ~20% gratuity). For a bland burger, substandard chorizo, and some pancakes, I thought that was steep. Especially when we could have gone... well... just about anywhere else. The people there are really nice, and the person waiting on our table was very friendly and attentive. That's all this place really has going for it, as far as I can tell.

First time here. Sat outside on the patio. Great setting! Beautiful day to sit outside. They also have heaters for when it cools off outside. Great cocktails, beer and wine selection. My friend and I split the margarita pizza. The French onion soup was also delicious!! They have some nice options for sure. Loved it!

Food and drink were excellent. Had a couple of glasses of wine with a friend and we shared a few appetizers. Great menu. Service was friendly but the food was very slow to arrive at the table. Nice interior decor - pretty place. Very surprised they do not accept Amex. Awfully nice place and they don't take Amex? Felt like I was at a local diner or something when my server told me that. Really?

Ok, so first the good and then the bad. The beer selection is excellent. I've been here twice and both times they had rare craft beers on tap. The ambience is pretty good too. They have really cool art made out of palates hanging on the wall. Ok, so that's the good, now on to the bad. I ordered the clam chowder and prime rib. The clam chowder was super dense and greasy, it reminded me more of a clam sludge, than a soup. My steak was WAY over cooked. It was suppose to be medium rare but it came out well done. To their credit, when I said something they quickly brought me out another piece of steak but it never should have left the kitchen in the first place. Maybe they don't have an expeditor. The steak was pretty good but slightly under seasoned for my taste. The service was only okay, not horrible but not great. I think it was under staffed for how busy it was and the waiters/watresses couldn't give enough attention to each table. To be fair, this was new years eve and they had a condensed menu. I'll give them one more shot. I've heard their macaroni and cheese is glorious, like a cheesey round house kick to the face! Luckily, I was there with a great group of friends so the evening still turned out amazing.

Located in the heart of Downtown Milford, Palate has become well known among craft beer lovers and farm-to-table enthusiasts. Their menu is comprised of a multitude of beers, fresh cocktails and a wide array of scratch-made dishes. Palate is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team who have true passion for their restaurant. In talking to Bristol and Joe it's obvious they have put their heart into all aspects of Palate - from choosing local artisans when designing the space to using neighborhood farmers for produce - there is love in every detail of their eatery. I have have dined at Palate on numerous occasions...a casual lunch with girlfriends, date night and most recently, my mom's birthday dinner. As we entered the restaurant live music was playing and we were seated at a comfortable granite top table with a beautiful view of Main Street. For 2.5 hours we enjoyed cocktails, small plates and entrees without ever feeling rushed to leave - it was the perfect place to celebrate. We feasted on many tasty dishes that night but the family favorite was the bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese - DELISH. The price point at Palate is moderate - my average meal is about $18 and that includes a cocktail and main entree. Everything I have tried on the menu has been tasty and unique; recently I had the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. It was fresh, flavorful and I finished every bite. The vibe here is cozy, welcoming and ascetically pleasing. There are two large dining rooms, a stunning bar with TONS of beer on tap and a great outdoor patio. When we visit Palate we never want to leave because of the beautiful decor and friendly atmosphere. As I'm sure you can tell, we highly recommend spending the evening this fabulous eatery.

Went here with the family for lunch. Service was OK, food was tasty and reasonably priced. Good place to watch sports or sit down with the family. Beer selection looked great, will have to come back to try them.

Ate at Palate Friday, great service, good selections on menu and a great beer menu. Crowded on Friday but the seating was fairly quick with room around the table without bumping others sears. If you are in Milford give it a try. You will not be sorry.

Tons of beer but only one cider (Aspall) on tap. The one they had wasn't bad, but I'm a cider kind of girl and I like options. Menu seemed a little overpriced at first glance. Food was good -- I had the halibut fish and chips, but even after I had my food I think the price was a bit steep. Fries were nice (thin and crispy), cole slaw had unique flavor as it had no mayo and seemed sweeter than usual (it was called Southern Cole Slaw), and while the halibut was fine, it wasn't anything to write home about. The fish also seemed a little small. I did really like the ambiance of the place -- decor was fun and any establishment that serves drinks in mason jars is awesome! I'd go back and give Palate another shot, but I'd probably order something else and hope it was a little less "standard" tasting than the fish and chips.

Love everything about this place! The decor, the fresh food , the drinks. I live in South Lyon and wish we had something original like this restaurant! My favorite dish is the santorini Greek salad with the fried feta on top! Yummmmmm

This place is great! I grew up in milford and I am sad this was not here during that time, but happy I can enjoy it now when I visit friends and family. I'm a little bummed Palate is not open during lunch, this is when I usually come in to town. I have never been unhappy with a meal and the service is always great! I even was able to try brunch a few weeks ago... some sort of eggs benedict with veggies and sun dried tomatoes, very good! Decor and the atmosphere is great too!

Food was great, service abysmal. I had been so looking forward to going to Palate and brought friends from out of town today. I was completely embarrassed. At one point a guest had to get up and retrieve his own drink from the bar after seeing it there for 10 minutes. This was at the late lunch hour, not even dinner rush. The manager noticed and apologized but despite him being aware of our displeasure, we continued to have to wave down our server for everything and the manger never approached our table or made accommodations. Also, there were three menu items that were either out or incorrect. I want this place to succeed as the food and atmosphere are great, so I hope they learn from this and improve.

Love downtown Milford and all of its restaurants, but Palate is by far the best restaurant that has hit Milford in years! I have gotten the chicken and waffle sandwich (spicy, but amazing) and the build your own pizza with chicken and feta - perfection. The patio is really nice, the lounge area is relaxing and a great place to hang out after work with friends. Great drinks as well! Live music at night pushes the place over the edge, they played all of my favorite songs and made my night :-) OH and the breadsticks are to die for.

The place looks nice. The beer selection is great and they do make good hand crafted drinks. But the ownership is terrible. They treat their employees like second rate citizens. I've had friends who work here currently and have worked here in the past. It's not sour grapes on their parts either. The food handling procedures is horrible, no one washes their hands. None of the cooks. They don't wear gloves either. So there is a very high chance of cross contamination. I'm shocked no one has gotten sick eating here. Just be careful when you eat here. And if you get a chance, ask Bristol and Joe why they have such a hard time actually paying their employees too. Most of the time the checks bounce or you just don't get your checks in time.

Stopped in for a drink with husband and kiddos. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. As we perused the menu, we were confused about the so called 'farm to table'? Being from the west side of the state, 'farm to table' actually means 'farm to table'. How are steamed mussels 'farm to table' in Michigan? How is halibut 'farm to table'? 'Farm to table' means seasonal veg, local meats, an ever-changing menu dependent upon the produce available locally (with the local producers identified in the menu). I should at least know as much about where the food came from as the beer. As far as I can tell, just a glorified TGIF.

Fabulous Michigan beer selection, sweet concept, and cool bartenders! Palate is a weekly hangout and the best place to get a craft brew from Michigan or beyond. Their beer selection is amazing with local brews from Bell's, Founder's, Dark Horse, New Holland, Arcadia, Witch's Hat, and so many more. I'm happy to have a place to enjoy Michigan's homegrown brews. The food is great, too! I recommend trying the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich - made with stuffing bread!

Food was good but service not so great. We came in at 6:00 on a Saturday night and asked for patio. We were seated at a "communal" table. It was two four tops pushed together. The couple seated there asked why they couldn't have their own table when several were empty the waitress said they needed to be cleaned. They said ok we can wait and moved. Food was good then right after getting bill and still finishing drinks; We were told we had to leave because the table was reserved. Even the other tables were commenting how rude it was.

Went out for dinner with a girlfriend split everything just to maximize tasting parts of their menu, chicken and waffles yummy- but not quite what I expected, not bad just not what I expected I thought there would be a little more sweet and savory, the bacon wrapped dates awesome, beet salad left a little to be desired, no real flavor earthiness of the beets were not very prominent nor was the cheese just kind of a tossed salad needed either more vinegar or salt, I definitely gave the four because they have the right idea, might have been an off night? Would recommend and would patronize again.

Came in for dinner tonight (Saturday). We did not wait long to sit down. The beer was good. It took a hour to get our good. My wife ordered the Perch. If was cold. Had to go back to the kitchen. Manager was great. He got my wife a salad while the food was being remade. Took her food off the bill and gave us 10% discount. We will give them another chance.

I want to first start off with the positives, no one likes to read a review where someone is negative right off the bat. I love the atmosphere and the cozy nature of the place. The drinks are fantastic and I would just go here for the booze. Right when The Palate opened I enjoyed their rice balls and their fish plate, their steak bites were tender and of a good cut. But, when we arrived tonight we found they'd taken the rice balls off the menu which was disappointing but they still had the steak bites...yay! We started off with the steak bites and I was so disappointed to find that they tasted a lot like the salisbury steak kids get in elementary school. Which is tasty for the palate of an 8 year old but not so much for my (yes, very spoiled) taste buds. But, they still had my favorite fish dish so it wasn't a complete strike out. I ordered the blackened halibut with the side of brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese. The halibut was fantastic. Maybe a fuzz too much spicy seasoning but the fish was well prepared. My mac n cheese was actually bow tie pasta with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Something I could've done at home. (Side note though: I wouldn't). And my sprouts were hard and had so much balsamic dressing on them it disguised the fact that they were brown not green. Then, at the end of the night no dessert peaked our interest (unless you like Superman ice cream) and when our check arrived we were told that they didn't take AMEX (I get it, business expense but come on). Thankfully we had cash on us (but, who carries cash these days?) and were able to book it out of there and find some good dessert to end the night off right. Again, in the past I've been here and I've been 5 Stars satisfied. I'm so disappointed that I had such a bad experience tonight. I will not be back anytime soon for a meal.

So so delicious! The decor is warm and inviting. They have a fantastic draught beer selection from MI. The food is made from scratch with care and it shows. Excellent overall! Try the bread sticks!

Palate was Delish. Right upon entry, service was great and our group was uber impressed with the beer and wine selection. Servers knew what to do when we brought our own bottle of wine-- a huge plus that they were up to snuff with training on Michigan's new law. Food was priced right and just the right portion. Chicken and waffles, scallops, mussels and the short rib pizza were perfection. No room for dessert. We will be back!

This place has B. Nektar zombie killer on tap. That alone is enough to give it 5 stars. The icing on the cake though is their amazing food. Sometimes the patrons in this establishment can seem snotty and assholish- that's because they are. Just ignore them and have a good time. The patio out back is nice as well as the interior. The also have fruit infused vodkas which are awesome!!!!

Another great lunch at Palate. This is a great lunch spot. The lighting, bar and tables make it a classic bar. The burger is very good, sweet potato fries even better and the diet coke is just right.

The one star is for the service. I was there Saturday night. It was not particularly busy. I ordered a beer from the bartender and.... nothing. She never brought it. I waited at the bar away from my friends for about 15 minutes then gave up.

This place never fails to impress. Our favorite place to dine in Milford. We come here regularly but brought the kids here tonight for a little adventure. The wait staff was incredibly accommodating and the fresh food and drinks were delicious. We will absolutely be back.

Awesome drinks, food, atmosphere & owner! This is our favorite spot to eat in the area. The patio is beautiful and comfortable and there is often live music in the bar area. Drinks are delicious! You can't go wrong with the burger, but all of the food is excellent. Joe, the owner, is a great guy and will do whatever it takes to make your experience awesome. He has a lot of unique ideas to make the restaurant better, like growing his own hops, herbs, vegetables, etc. and also totally supports all local businesses, even those that could be considered competition. His goal is to make Milford better, and he is! He treats everyone as a "regular"... and that's exactly what most people become after visiting once!

The food was very good and the outdoor seating enhanced the experience. Very friendly staff. I would have given 5 stars, but we were brought the wrong drinks twice. Great micro brew options as well.

  • Susan R.

Very nice beer and wine list (although the beers tend toward the high ABV's). Food is nicely done, better than typical pub food. The folks behind the bar are among the best in the area. They make the place- they treat everyone like a regular!

Not impressive ! The alcohol was the best part of the meal. The tuna appetizer was well cooked and a good starter but it went down from there. I ordered the Mi Perch with a Brussels sprout has, well this was not a hash but just pan undercooked sprouts! I was told that it would be sauté with bacon, instead it was pan browned with balsamic vinaigrette glaze. I guess they need to rename it. I was looking for a hash! Hubby had the Piri Piri with shrimp. Now I like heat and flavor, but this was just one dimensional heat, and the shrimp were under cooked. Again, very underwhelming. I was really looking forwards to trying this restaurant. and sad that it wasn't worth the drive. i appreciate the farm to table effort, and maybe as a neighborhood restaurant its a great option. But i wont be going back. So we decided to go home for dessert. Homemade strawberry shortcake. So much better!

I've done the downtown Milford Resturant scene and I'm from Ann Arbor. This is the best I've tasted on the main strip. I'm usually visiting on Sunday where a few shops are closed but if you want excellent quality and creative menu. This is the place. Great ribs, excellent pasta suppers. Give it a try!

The beer was perfect. Our server brought us samples of some new things to try out to make sure they were flavors we loved. We tried the Innis and Gunn Oak Aged Ale and Rivers Edge Bristol Bombshell, both things we've never had before and loved them. Our waiter was patient and helped me choose beers based on other things I like. The breadsticks with beer cheese deep are everything anyone could ever want in a bread stick. We were salivating immediately upon their delivery and didn't stop until they were gone. We both ordered the parmesan encrusted whitefish, which was fine but the sides really shined. We both loved the Mexican street corn with the sriacha and parmesan mix in and I enjoyed my brussel sprout hash. They just have a way with pairings. It was a little pricey at $18 for the whitefish and two sides but everything was so well prepared, the atmosphere is so nice, and the service incredible that we will definitely be back.

Had this place bookmarked for a bit. Finally tried it out, liked it.. There was no wait in the family dining room so we took it.. Sucked because there were lots of families lol.. Baby's crying and yelling kids.. I had a flight of beer; liked that they had a flight option.. They hAd a good option of beers. I did 4 Michigan beers.. On a other note we have world class beers in michigan! Ordered the French onion soup. Was great and liked how they put croutons in it instead of a slice of bread.. Then the burger for dinner.. Cooked medium well like I asked and bun was toasted like it should be.. Fries were shoe string.. Cold and stale. Service was good. Would return.

This was a great place for dinner on the patio! We walked in at 7 and there was a half hour wait, so we took a seat at the bar. They have a great local beer selection, we had Shorts and Brewery Vivant. The bartender told us they infuse their own vodkas, and had one with basil watermelon. After we were seated, we ordered the "Garden Smash" cocktail with that vodka. So Good! The patio was just gorgeous. It was 80 degrees out, but the patio was shaded and had umbrellas. It was nice to look out over the trees. We both ordered salads, I had the Salad Nicoise. The tuna was "cooked" perfectly, and the veggies were tasty. I asked the waitress for crackers and she brought a glass of sesame bread sticks- it was a nice touch. The waitress was very attentive. Overall, great food, great drinks, service and atmosphere!

Dinner Friday November 7: Linda and I stopped in for dinner. We both had salads (roasted beets and for me the pumkin) then split the ribeye steak. It was a very satisfying and inventive meal. I had a glass of Argentinian red that went well with the meal then we both had their coffee. It was certainly enjoyable. The wait was manageable at 20 minutes and the service was attentive. It is a bit noisy but not horrible.

Not sure what keeps this place going. Very average wine selection ( 2 chardonnays and at best, average but pricey) , difficult to receive a steak cooked correctly, and service was just OK. This was the last time unless forced by friends. Not even then.

Great looking interior and the bar looks beautiful. I think a lot of the interior was left by the previous tenant, which was smart. We got seated very quickly for a Monday lunch. The server was at our table soon after. She returned for our order and it was a little longer than I thought it should take to get our meal. I had ordered a Turkey Burger and my my wife got a sliced Filet Mignon sandwich and sweet potato fries, which she said was wonderful! The Turkey Burger was not good at all, way overground, mushy and no flavor as well. The fries I got with the meal were cold and stuck together somehow. It took forever for us and the couple next to us to get our bill afterwards. Overall quite expensive for a regular place to eat just okay service. There are plenty of places to eat in Milford so I hope they kick up the overall experience a bit to ask for these prices. I will return to see if it was just an off day for all.

Palate was just what we were looking for last night. Being beer snobs we were quite impressed with their selection. They had a great range beer including some hard to find double IPA's. Being into beer what can be frustrating is seeing good beer on tap but having all the choices be something you can buy at Mejier. I appreciate seeing multiple options of newly released beer with much variety in style. They did a great job highlighting Michigan options first. Great selection of wine's by the glass which I appreciate because not everybody wants a bottle, and it was nice to see there were more than just two choices. The food was good as well. We are not the people to go for entree's at a place like this, so we tried the burger, soups and salads and all were fantastic. There were many items on the menu to decide from so I am very excited to go back and try more. I see other Yelpers complaining about some of the entree's but really I most likely wouldn't order something on the menu like scallops at a place like this. I would stick to sandwiches, pizza, salads, and starters, that's just how we are I guess. We leave nice fish and steak entree's to places that specialize in that. Again, not saying that any of their entrees are bad as I have not actually ordered any of them yet but I think fellow Yelpers need to get a grip. We even saw the general manager walking around quite often checking in on each table. I think that is so important in the restaurant business as then they are available for any crisis and really understand the pace of their restaurant. It looked like near us there was a bit of an issue with how long someone's meals were talking but our service was excellent. I highly recommend going to Palate, but get there early because when we left around 7:30 the line was out the door.

Pricey, pricey, pricey!!! Food was okay, but the place is very pretentious for being mostly average in value, taste, and variety. I liked the regional beers they carry. Not terribly kid friendly, consider getting a sitter unless you want to go here for lunch.

  • N T.

Had dinner here July 9. The waitress emphasized their fresh, local food-- it may have been fresh, but definitely not local-- Brussels sprouts are not yet ready here! The food was attractively plated, but not as flavorful as it looked. Overlooking the misinformation and average food, it is extremely LOUD in the place. We could not carry on a conversation, and then the " live entertainment" started on the bar. Sorry, I will probably not return.. Overpriced pretentious food, too much noise and slow service-- there are better choices nearby, where they do not try to tell you about the locally caught salmon-- do they really think people are that stupid?!

Wow it gets better all the time! Tonight we had nice experience here. Always been very happy but we had Loren for a server and she was the best! New her stuff ! We like red wine and she knew something about all there excellent wines on the list. It hard to decide though because there beer selection on draught is so good. Can hardly wait to go back When it warmer and sit outside on there excellent patio. Ask for Loren and get great service!

Great restaurant. Newer still, and somewhat still too limited menu for my preference, but the food on the menu thus far is amazing. The micro beers and selection of them is also outstanding. My only issue is sometimes the food is over-spiced. When I order a steak I want to taste the meat. The fish and chips was good too, and once the steak was redone it was also supurb. I will definitely be going again.

I don't know why everyone is throwing a hissy over little petty complaints here and there. I've been going to this restaurant since it opened, with all of my friends and my boyfriend for years. This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding and the service is excellent. Their pizzas are to die for and I love the zombie killer on tap along with lots of other awesome craft beers!

Love the bar area and would recommend going here for a drink. Beer selection is one of the best for the area. Love the microbrews. Food wasn't all that great. It was fine but really wasn't anything special. The fish was dry and would not recommend it to anyone. Overall, would give Palate another try as it has the potential to be one of Milford's better restaurants.

Great atmosphere. Management was very accommodating and pleasant. It was refreshing to see the owner (Joe) walking around and greeting people. Food was excellent, and service was spot on. I would highly recommend this place. The beer selection is very unique, and worth exploring. Great TVs for sports.

This fits the trendy downtown that fights to survive. Live music, sports on TV, limited but nice outdoor seating. Food and beverages are local creations mixed with imports but micro brew is the norm here. Menu was really nice, fresh not overpowering, filling but eloquent easy to share. It can get a little loud as people increase volume to speak. Volume ebbs and flows. I have never had to wait. Nice spot if you're in Milford stop in.

On subsequent visits to Palate I have enjoyed really good food and a friendly staff. I continue to favor the Monte Cristo sandwich but I have tried other dishes and enjoyed everything. My large family likes dining at Palate and my picky eaters always find something on the menu which they enjoy.

The atmosphere was a little busy and loud, but the place was very nice. Lots of local, Michigan beers available to choose from. I had the Pumpkin Beer which was seasonal, delicious and filling. For dinner we opted to try a few different things. The cheddar soup was the best. Little chunks of sausage was a nice added touch. That in itself would be a good meal. The fried cheese/risotto balls made a good appetizer. For dinner we split the turkey burger. You have a wide variety of toppings to choose from. We went with the hickory smoked bacon and the smoked gouda cheese. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. The wait was rather long: at least an hour, but when they take your name, they will text you when a table is ready. That allows you to walk around town, which was nice.

Even though this place isn't a 5 star it's pretty darn good. Great atmosphere. Great beer selection. Great patio. There're doing all the right things here. Occasionally the wait staff isn't on point, bad service is not the norm. Food is always good and everything is local and fresh. In today's society the prices fit the bill. I always enjoy returning here.

We went on a Sunday that was a Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout keg tapping. I expected a line out the door due to the fandom surrounding that beer. But, the tapping was at 2pm and we got there around 6:30 p.m. so we got seated right away. The space is quite unique and fun. There was an enthusiasm in the air without bring too loud for conversation. The drink/beer menu was great. The food menu was tempting on all courses. We ordered 2 "small plates", a salad and a soup. The "small" plates were anything but, portion-wise. Everything was delicious and ample. We live in Ann Arbor (restaurant central) and would certainly return to Palate!

This is my favorite place to have lunch/dinner when in Milford area. Walked in and was told that there's a 35 min wait, no problem they will text us when our table is set. Walked about 6 min and guess what, table is ready. Cool not a problem, but how did you go from 35 to 6? Obviously staff has a little bit of a communication skills to work on. Had a very nice, well groomed server wait on us and the knowledge he sustained was from the iPad ordering information software. He'd be lost without it and I'm being completely honest. I ordered the chicken wrap and requested the chicken to extra well done, the response, you mean more cooked than it is? Hello! Are you kidding! So I held myself back from giving him a quick lesson on the basics of what is expected from his job title. I ordered a side salad, which 16 min later I had to ask where is it, he said they normally bring all the orders together. I can't believe it! First of all I know that's not their practice because I've eaten there numerous times, so this servers stupidity is getting to me, I was ready to start testing his menu/service knowledge and perhaps give him a test! The food was amazing, ambiance was spectacular, our table was the best seat in the house, server was nice but somewhat brainless! He better Pray that I don't get him next time because its time for a lesson, class 101 in basic knowledge of being a server. I highly recommend this place, amazing staff overall, free wi-fi (ask for password), great menu prices and the food is amazing. We sure will be back again!

I have been to Palate several times now and have had great experiences every time. The waitstaff is friendly and knows the menu well. The only time there was a slight delay was on a very busy Sunday morning for brunch, which was understandable as the place was packed. The outdoor seating on the back patio is very nice -- it's great that it is off the back of the restaurant and not on Main Street like most other restaurants in downtown Milford. Now on to the food. I've been a couple times with my husband and once with a girlfriend, and all of us agreed the food was great. I have personally sampled the sliders, a couple salads, turkey club pita, and the chicken and waffles -- all so, so good. The garlic aioli they use on their sandwiches is fantastic (order extra to dunk your fries in!). Beer list is great, mixed drink menu is large and varied (have never had a drink off of that menu that I haven't enjoyed). I request a dinner out at Palate pretty much every week! I recently moved back to the area and am so glad this is now an option. Compared to where I came from (Ann Arbor and then Detroit), the prices are incredibly reasonable.

We eat here about once every two weeks. Some of the food is pricey, but it's also nicer than just pub fare. Every time we've eaten/had drinks here, the service has been remarkable. Even when they're busy, the hostess and the server coming around to people waiting couldn't be friendlier. Just tonight we had a miscommunication about what I ordered, and the owner sat down with us, bought us a beer, and it was even my fault...! This place is casual but well done, and I would recommend it for a couple on their first date, or regulars who are out on the town :) Enjoy!

Last Thursday night my boyfriend and I were in the Milford area and decided to stop in to Palate for some late night drinks and eats. We arrived around 9pm and upon first impression the place is beautiful. I love the dark, warm feel when you walk in and we were greeted by the sounds of live music (which is always a fan fav or ours). We put our names in for a table (15 min. wait) The hostess and servers all use I pads which are kinda cool. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table. They have a pretty good selection of micro brews and Michigan locals. I enjoyed my beer and we were seated... This is where my experience took a slightly downward turn. We were not greeted for at least 20 minutes. I don't know if it was because we brought our beers from the bar and they were confused or if somehow we just slipped through the cracks. When our server did finally introduce himself, he was flustered and kept repeating how busy he was and how rude other guests were being to him. We ordered a meat and cheese plate, soups, and the fried mozzarella and risotto balls (late night snacks more than dinner). The soup was delicious, Cheddar Ale with bits of sausage in it I think. The meat and cheese was just so so.. the server couldn't explain what we were eating. and the mozz/risotto were nothing special but how creative can you get with deep fried cheese? With those items and 2 craft beers our total came to $42. Not terribly bad but for an impromptu Thurs night not the cheapest. We both agreed it is more of a place to come drink than to have dinner. If you do want to have dinner while grabbing a few beers, we recommend they alter the menu at the bar slightly. Most of the small plates are fish based and no offense but there doesn't seem to be an abundance of fresh mussels and scallops in Michigan. Need more sandwiches. The atmosphere seemed to be enjoyable, although maybe it had something to do with the Milford Ladies Nights but there seemed to be quite the older crowd in there. We are in our late 20s so I'm curious to go back on a weekend night and see if the crowd is any younger. I also look forward to trying a dinner entree. Hopefully by then the servers will be a little more experienced with the menu and everyone will be more laid back and less rushing around. Last note, my boyfriend did comment that the TVs are great for watching games, so the bar area may become his new favorite Monday night hang out.

Very nice place. Clean. Very friendly lunch staff. Had the Turkey Provolone Sandwich...very tasty. Did not indulge, but looked as if they had 15 beers on tap. Look forward to having dinner there sometime soon...hopefully on the deck :)

Honestly, I know a lot of people who rave about this place and I just don't get it. It's just ok to me. I had the chicken and waffles, chicken was burnt, waffles were dry- there was nothing sweet to balance/compliment the flavor. My husband ordered the Ruben and both of us agreed it wasn't that good either. I ordered some kind of breadstick appetizer- again just ok. The sweet potato fries are pretty good tho.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon looking for a cold beer after a long bike ride. We decided to sit at the bar. Weren't planning on ordering food but I couldn't resist. The chicken and waffle sandwich was da bomb! Best ever and great beer selection. Can't wait to make it out to Milford again.

Though the atmosphere was pretty cool, the food was not really anything to get excited about. We went to Palate because we were excited to try some place new. For starters, we selected an appetizer - the scallops with bacon. (We had the same while sitting on a beach in San Diego last year and hoped these would be as good or just at least, come close). Well, they were good but...for $10, we only got 2 scallops!. Two scallops. These must have been very special because, for the price, they must have been delivered by a white gloved chauffeur. Following the scallops, I tried the ribs which were dry and small, and seemingly prepared without imagination. I generally don't mind paying extra for a great meal. But this was not a great meal, only an "ok" one.

I really want to 'like' this place. It's local...it's easy. But I can't. The menu keeps getting blander and blander every time I go. For our last 3 visits, the fries have been cold. My dinner this time? Cold. Just not the quality I'd expect for a $100 meal. Sorry Palate, that was our last visit.

Have been here twice now and agree the drinks are incredible and the beer selection is fantastic. The outdoor patio is very comfortable and service is fantastic. The food is hit or miss. My husband had the BBQ platter and have to agree the pulled pork was just ok but their roasted beet salad is fantastic and the ahi tuna appetizer is done to perfection. They have great dinner specials duck confit was the latest special we had and it was out of this world. Owner is hands on and talks to his patrons great touch and very personable. We will go back.

My husband and I met our friends here for what was a great dinner with top notch staff! We live in LA and frequent eateries in SF and NYC, and I have to say ... Palate is up there with the best of them. We're looking forward to going back to MI again to visit friends/family soon - and heading over to Palate for a good brew and sandwich!

This place is COOL! Awesome vibe, great beer selection and unique, well-prepared dishes. I had the beet salad and tomato bisque, they were delicious. I am a vegetarian and these were just a few of many vegetarian options and they all sounded delightful.

Like the beer selection (other than they need to carry more jolly pumpkin and north peak -- some of the best michigan beers). The atmosphere and service are both very good. I have to admit though... The food is just average. All in all, a good option for Milford.

We had a fantastic dinner last night at the Palate. There is a awesome selection of brews, wines and creative cocktails. The menu even though it's limited for a short time has a variety is creative, fresh and very tasty. All this comes with great service and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is a like a Euro Pub that is fun for adults and families. This is a gem of a restaurant for Milford!

Enjoyed our evening at the palate...it was very busy, but the service was good. We ordered escargot, flatbread pizza, hummus, and risotto cheese balls....everything was great...the beer and wine selection is unique and the prices are very reasonable for Milford. Menu was limited, but I am excited for their full menu to open up

I have decided that restaurants of this caliber will be deemed "Family Restaurants". This will indicate the fact that there are children in highchairs, shaking and squeeking toys and making loud squealing sounds with their mouths. If this is not a problem for you, you will not have a problem with family restaurants. I don't have a family of my own, and I try to avoid other peoples. That being said, the food here was also a 3. A brave soul at the table ordered the carpaccio. I had a taste. It appeared to be correct in color and thickness, but was sadly flavorless, texturally offensive, and covered in arugula and capers that had been tossed very heavily in sea style salt. Not good. I went ahead and ordered what I would consider a safe bet, the grilled chicken pita accompanied by sweet potato fries. I found it to be tasty, as are most chicken pitas. The chicken was not dry, and the garlic mayo was abundant enough to not allow me to tell if was flavorful on it's own. The sweet potato fries were good, but I like mine to be a little on the soggy side, and they were. My friend ordered a salad that contained arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese and grilled chicken. The beets were canned, certainly not roasted. The dressing was bizarre and I can't really explain it. The others at the table ordered a pizza, and while they said it was good, I found it doughy and nothing special. If you have read my other reviews, you will see that I have a tendancy to be what some call a food snob. I advise you take my reviews with a grain of salt, and check this place out for yourself. I thought the atmosphere was really cute, the service was excellent and some of my fellow diners really enjoyed their food.

We have been to this restaurant several times and have given high reviews, however, when they are very busy they break down. No apology, no responsibly for poor service, no management responsibility. If is is very busy, be cautious. Also bought a gift certificate to give away and got a plastic card, no envelope, no card to say the amount, just a plastic card. Not impressed,

Won't comment on service because we were with a large group of people ( over 15). Great ambiance- decorated beautifully, updated nicely to compete with other restaurants in the area. The beer and drink selection are refreshing, given the normal selection of local bars resembles Sam Adams, labatts and Budweiser. Suggestion try the angry orchard cider as it is sweet and highly addictive. Food is left much to be desired...fish and chips are measured by the pound as most restaurants of the area provide 3 fillets, my friend was given 1 large fillet leaving him trouble finding it amongst the heaping pile of fries provided. I had ordered the filet mingion, cheddar potato sandwich, which sounded amazing and was assured by our waiter was medium rare... What I recieved was the equilavant of an Arby's cheddar melt and was on par with taste. The other disappointing factor were the yam fries that came with the meal. Slightly burnt, and soggy with frying oil- the other misleading factor was quantity as the bottom of the galvanized pale was stuffed with paper reducing the amount of fries delivered to patrons. Best bet would be to order the chicken and waffles or the waffle monte cristo as it is the dish that has the most bang for its buck as well as taste. It is a unique approach to a monte cristo as I am accustom to the fried artery clogging 1,200 calorie turkey, ham cheese, sandwich. The waffle was a nice take but missed the customary breading and deep frying of the sandwich. As it is nice to see a new restaurant pop onto the radar that tries to implement a new and fresh take on American cuisine, it falls short on taste, I applaud the achievements and spontinaiety of the owners but have been left wanting more. I have definitely found a new cider, and bar to enjoy it in- but until the appeteasers and main courses resemble that of similar portions - that is all I will be enjoying - the cider.

Nice decor. Lots of beer & wine choices. Good pricing. Lacking good service behind the bar. Not very friendly bartenders. We tried the steak bites & a salad. Bartender never asked us what temperature we wanted out steak bites (but they came the way we would've ordered them - med. rare). They were tasty, but came with hard stale bread. Salad was good. Portions were good. Please get some friendly, attentive waitstaff.

We were excited when this place opened in town and couldn't wait to try it. After hearing initial reviews we decided waiting was a good idea. Last night we finally tried it out, and other than the beer list it wasn't very impressive. My wife and I had the arancini app to start off. It was Ok, but overpowered by red peppers. The Italian place in town does a much better job. For mains I had the Italian beef sandwich and fries and my wife had the beef tenderloin sandwich with macaroni and cheese. We decided to try the cheaper side of the menu because we didn't want to waste money on the good stuff if it wasn't worth it. Both were good but nothing special, and the Mac n chz was farfalle noodles in a flavorless Alfredo sauce. Not sure why they call it mac n chz at all. Our friends got steaks and lamb chops, all of which were over cooked, but they said the flavors were good. Overall a big disappointment. You can't be a great restaurant charging $23 for lamb chops and steaks and over cook every item. If we go back it will be for the beer, not the food...

Such a great atmosphere. Everything looks handmade, even the water pitchers. Prices were great! (But stay away from the scallops...there was only 2 on the plate for $9!) the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. My salad was good. The whole bar is made of copper. Beautiful place!

Palate is turning into my hometown favorite! Great local craft beers on tap and delicious eclectic mix of food. There is something here for everyone. And you won't be disappointed!

I had an okay dinner here last time (6 months ago) but now we just moved to the area so I wanted to try it again. We went to Sunday brunch. The service is still the same, friendly but not up to speed on the menu and options. The food came out pretty quick but they don't bring you ketchup, etc unless you ask (even then, it's a tiny amount). I ordered the country skillet. It was actually really delicious. Then I went to eat my toast. There was no butter so again I had to ask. I also asked for some jam for my toast. I was told that there was an extra charge because they 'scoop real preserves out of a container". My preserves came out in the same tiny half filled container as the ketchup and I later discovered that they charged me $2 for the amount of preserves that would fit on a teaspoon!! Why are you nickel and diming your clients?? The food was good, just charge a little more and provide free jam for the toast!
